Our Story
News Lexica began in 2022 when our founder, an English language teacher, noticed that many students struggled with vocabulary acquisition despite having access to numerous resources. The problem wasn't a lack of word lists or flashcards—it was the absence of a systematic, engaging approach that helped words stick.
Drawing on research in cognitive science and language acquisition, we developed a methodology that combines contextual learning, active recall, and spaced repetition. We then built News Lexica to implement this methodology in an accessible, user-friendly format.
